How to be active?

***See useful steps below***

Share a visual of spaces in your community you would like to reclaim for women*

Tag @PES_Women and @RainbowRose_PES. Do so by using the hashtag #reclaimyourspace and #proudfeminist and find our stencils for photos or images here: twb.nz/reclaimyourspace

Celebrate and mark important milestones to promote women* and LBT rights

Raise awareness about the realities and challenges for women* such as on the International Women’s Day, International Lesbian Visibility Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Equal Pay Days, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Organize and join protests and awareness raising marches in your town/village

Use our campaign logo to print posters and stencils to mark your surroundings with “Reclaim Your Space”

Call for sufficient funding for progressive LGBTI and Women’s rights activism

Consequently, condemn conservative and right-wing governments that undermine and actively attack the rights of women and the LGBTI community

Show color

Ask your party, government, parliament, and other important institutions to fly the rainbow flag during pride month (June) and to light up their building in orange to show their commitment to fight against gender-based violence (November)

Inform yourself or ask your employer to organize a training on bystander intervention

Bystander intervention teaches everyone how to detect harassment and unacceptable behaviours and take action rather than staying silent. By assuming their responsibility in de-escalating conflict and problematic situations, active bystanders - or “upstanders” - help create a culture where everyone feels safe, supported and can thrive

Inform yourself about gender impact assessment

Apply a checklist for any policy or activity and how they affect (positively or negatively) gender equality

Use gender-inclusive language

Condemn and avoid male-only panels, meetings and leadership compositions. Call out trivialization of violence against women* such as framing femicides as “family tragedies”

Print it, Pin it, Protest

Click on “learn more” to download the print file. Use the campaign logo in manifestations, meetings, on social media and more to reclaim spaces for women*.

With the financial support of the European Parliament.
